In this sentence dge-bdun has the general meaning of an assembly of religions folk. There are in particular two kinds of dge-hdun: V so-sor fkyeQohi dge-hdun the ordinary clergy, and Wfl’Mt’-jfl hphags-pahi dge-hdun the sainted clergy. Four indivi-duals of the former olass collectively, i.e., when they assemble together, form what is called Saygha-ratna dge-hdun dJcon-mrhog. An individual of the latter class. fthe sainted clergy, may singly form the Sangha-ratnr.. The Saygha of the Mahay ana School differed from thai of the Hlnayana School. In the Abhiscmaya of Maitreya, twenty classes of Sangha are enumerated as belonging to the Hlnayana School.
